SUMMARY
SMT Machine Programmer SME is responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining high‑quality SMT machine programs to support new product introduction (NPI), mass production, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role plays a critical part in ensuring optimal line performance, product quality, and equipment efficiency. The SME will provide advanced technical support, training, and leadership to ME Technicians, ME Engineers, and the SMT programming team. The position requires strong analytical abilities, hands-on SMT process knowledge, and cross-functional collaboration to resolve issues, enhance productivity, and meet Manufacturing Engineering (ME) KPIs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
*   Generate, validate, update, optimize, and back up SMT machine programs for all production and NPI builds.
*   Maintain and manage machine component part library data and ME Portal.
*   Prepare and maintain SMT setup sheets, including equipment configuration and route steps.
*   Perform NPI First Article Inspection (FAI) and incoming component verification.
*   Provide process optimization through measurement and enhancement of pick‑and‑place machine performance.
*   Conduct simulation studies for new SMT line configuration and tooling strategies.
*   Drive OEE improvements related to programming performance and line optimization.
*   Assist the equipment team in resolving program and part-data vision‑related issues.
*   Support manufacturing lines by providing real-time troubleshooting, technical guidance, and direction to ME Technicians.
*   Interface with Line Supervisors, Manufacturing Engineers, and Machine Support Manager to determine required corrective actions for process or equipment issues.
*   Provide findings, root cause analysis (RCCA), and recommendations for quality issues or NPI-related concerns.
*   Collaborate with vendors and cross-functional teams in driving corrective action task forces.
*   Provide structured training to ME Technicians and ME Engineers on SMT programming, best practices, and process control.
*   Lead the SMT Machine Programmers team, including manpower planning and daily support arrangements.
*   Support the workcell team in AOP 6‑step activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
*   Prepare and deliver daily pass‑down reports to Project Engineer, Manufacturing Engineers, and ME Technicians on the next shift.
*   Maintain and manage the Programming Server, ensuring data integrity and backup compliance.
*   Ensure adherence to company security policies and all related procedures.
*   Support the ME Manager in achieving all ME departmental KPIs.
*   Comply with and enforce all relevant safety, health, and environmental regulations.
*   Ensure safe working practices are applied during machine setup, programming, troubleshooting, and line support activities.

REQUIREMENTS
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field; or equivalent practical experience.
* Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in SMT machine programming and process optimization, preferably in a high-mix manufacturing environment.
* High-level proficiency with SMT programming software (e.g., Valor, Aegis, CAM350, or specific machine software).
* In-depth knowledge of various SMT equipment (e.g., pick-and-place, screen printers, reflow ovens) and their operational principles.
* Strong understanding of IPC-A-610 standards and other relevant industry specifications.
* Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, Gerber files, and BOMs.
* Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex SMT process issues and implement effective solutions.
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
* Experience with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
