Directs the activities of the debug and testing groups. Responsible for performance management, workcell leadership, maintaining production schedules, increasing FPY and throughput, and gathering product testing and validation metrics for statistical analysis.

SHIFT / SCHEDULE

The Test Production Supervisor is required to work 12-hour shifts, on the following schedule:

  • Shift 401: (days) working Sunday through Tuesday every week, and Sunday through Wednesday every other week, from 6:00AM to 6:00PM.

  • Example: work 36 hours on week 1 (Sunday through Tuesday), then 48 hours on week 2 (Sunday through Wednesday), then 36 hours on week 3, etc.

  • Additional overtime may be required, depending on business needs.


LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
Recruitment and Retention:

  • Recruit, interview and hire assistant supervisors, testers, diagnostic technicians, test technicians, and/or rework operators as needed.

  • Coach department support staff in the interviewing/hiring process.

  • Monitor team member turnover; identify key factors that can be improved; make improvements.

Employee and Team Development:

  • Identify individual and team strengths and development needs on an ongoing basis.

  • Create and/or validate training curriculum in area of responsibility.

  • Coach and mentor test department staff to deliver excellence to every internal and external customer.

  • Create and manage succession plans as needed.


Performance Management:

  • Establish clear measurable goals and objectives by which to determine individual and team results (i.e. operational metrics, results against project timelines, training documentation, attendance records, knowledge of operational roles and responsibilities, personal development goals).

  • Provide ongoing coaching and counseling to team member based on feedback.

  • Perform team member evaluations professionally and on time.

  • Drive individuals and the team to continuously improve in key operational metrics and the achievement of the organizational goals.

  • Ensure recognition and rewards are managed fairly and consistently in area of responsibility.


Communication:

  • Provide communication forum for the exchange of ideas and information with the department.

  • Organize verbal and written ideas clearly and use an appropriate business style.

  • Ask questions; encourage input from team members.

  • Assess communication style of individual team members and adapt own communication style accordingly.


TECHNICAL MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Track and manage product testing, first pass yield, throughput, and failure analysis for assigned shift.

  • Plans and prioritizes the activities of the technical staff.

  • Develops and maintains all department reports/records.

  • Supervises the planning and execution of line moves and builds.

  • Assure that procedures and work instructions are efficient and not redundant.

  • Offer new ideas and suggestions for improvement. Identify and implement new practices and processes to reduce waste and increase efficiency.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to customer service; anticipate, meet, and exceed expectations by solving problems quickly and effectively; making customer issues a top priority.

  • Adhere to all safety rules and regulations. Comply with all security protocols in alignment with company policy.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (engineering discipline preferred); and three years' experience in a supervisory or management capacity within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

  • 5+ years of supervisory experience within a manufacturing environment, preferable involving assembly of complex electronic hardware infrastructure.

  • Direct experience and knowledge of high-level assembly, system level testing and validation, process optimization, Statistical Process Control, Design for Manufacturability, Design for Test, Demand Flow Technology (line balancing), and Design of Experiment methodologies.

  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles and methodologies.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and general computer skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is frequently required to walk, and to lift and carry PC’s and test equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and use of computer monitor screens a great deal of time.


WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Individual’s primary workstation is located on the manufacturing floor. The noise level in this environment ranges from low to moderate. Required PPE for the manufacturing area includes composite toed shoes, hearing protection, protective eyewear, and an ESD vest. The manufacturing floor is modernized, climate-controlled, and well-lit.
