JOB SUMMARY

Systems Architects conceptualize products, provide technical leadership, and drive development of advanced technology-based solutions. For this role, the focus is on Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) platforms and architectures for automotive and transportation applications. Key responsibilities include analyzing technical specifications and system requirements to determine optimal approaches and feasibility within time and cost constraints, ensuring compliance with automotive standards and functional safety requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

LEADERSHIP AND TEAM RESPONSIBILITIES

Recruitment and Retention:

  • Support recruitment and hiring of design organization staff with expertise in automotive software, embedded systems, and SDV technologies.
  • Monitor team member technical turnover; identify improvement areas and implement them.

Employee and Team Development:

  • Identify individual and team strengths and development needs in SDV and automotive software domains.
  • Create and validate training curriculum for SDV architecture, AUTOSAR, functional safety (ISO 26262), and cybersecurity.
  • Coach and mentor team members to deliver excellence in automotive-grade solutions.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Establish clear measurable goals for SDV platform development, compliance with automotive standards, and delivery timelines.
  • Drive continuous improvement in operational metrics and achievement of SDV product development goals.
  • Coordinate activities of cross-functional teams (hardware, software, validation) and maintain focus during critical program phases.
  • Support creation of SDV and automotive technology roadmaps.
  • Support funding activities for SDV reference platforms and ensure successful delivery.

Communication:

  • Maintain open communication channels for SDV-related initiatives across global teams.
  • Organize technical discussions and forums on SDV architecture, automotive standards, and emerging technologies.
  • Adapt communication style to diverse technical and business audiences.



BUSINESS AND FUNCTIONAL DEVELOPMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Strategy and Direction:

  • Understand and align with automotive and transportation product development strategies. 
  • Contribute to the SDV strategy and provide regular updates to senior management on SDV execution and roadmap progress.

Cost Management:

  • Identify cost optimization opportunities in SDV development through modular architectures and scalable platforms.
  • Monitor project costs and trends, ensuring value-driven SDV solutions.
  • Manage creation and submission of SDV-related proposals and quotations.
  • Maintain and drive SDV technology roadmaps for automotive business sectors



TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define and maintain processes for SDV architecture development, system design, and requirements engineering.
  • Identify internal and external resources for SDV platform development, including partnerships with automotive suppliers and Tier-1s.
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of automotive software stacks, middleware, and hardware-software integration.
  • Define Product Realization Proposals, System Specifications, SDV Architectures, PRD, MRD, and design reviews in collaboration with senior technical staff and OEM customers.
  • Guide analysis and simulation activities for SDV performance, reliability, and compliance with automotive standards.
  • Deliver cost-effective SDV solutions meeting OEM requirements.
  • Architect requirements for engineering activities supporting SDV platforms and vehicle software ecosystems.
  • Oversee development of system component requirements, interfaces, and specifications for SDV consistency and integrity.
  • Collaborate with regional design centers to enhance SDV capability and technical depth.
  • Support customer engagements, RFIs/RFQs, and technical presentations showcasing SDV expertise.
  • Drive Jabil’s competency in SDV and automotive software architecture.
  • Comply with Jabil safety, health, and security policies.


JOB QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong understanding of SDV concepts, automotive software architecture, AUTOSAR, functional safety (ISO 26262), cybersecurity (ISO/SAE 21434), and vehicle networking (CAN, Ethernet).
  • Familiarity with cloud integration, OTA updates, and software lifecycle management in automotive.
  • Ability to interpret technical journals, regulatory standards, and communicate effectively with OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers.
  • Advanced PC skills and experience with automotive development tools.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply mathematical concepts to automotive system modeling, reliability analysis, and performance optimization.

REASONING ABILITY
Apply advanced engineering and statistical methods to SDV architecture validation and compliance.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field; MS preferred, MBA a plus.
  • Minimum of 15+ years’ experience, with at least 5 years in automotive software architecture or SDV development.
  • Experience with OEM/Tier-1 collaboration and automotive product lifecycle.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
