How will you make an impact?

The BIM Manager is responsible for the ownership, integrity, and governance of digital models across facility infrastructure programs. Serving as the backbone for spatial coordination and design reuse, this is an individual contributor role that enables scalable, repeatable, and manufacturable data center solutions aligned with hyperscale deployment models.

This position develops and maintains 3D, BIM, and configuration-controlled reference models that support design, manufacturing, construction, and operations across multi-discipline teams. The ideal candidate combines deep Revit and BIM platform expertise with a working knowledge of data center critical systems, modular construction principles, and digital configuration management.

Job Title: Principal BIM Manager

Organization: Data Center Infrastructure Team

Location:  Remote* OR Austin, TX

*Requires up to 20% domestic and/or international travel (rare)

What will you do?

  • Own all digital models, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and configuration integrity across programs and project phases.
  • Establish and maintain authoritative BIM and 3D reference models used by engineering, manufacturing, and construction teams.
  • Define and enforce modeling standards, naming conventions, data structures, and version control practices.
  • Conduct regular model audits and QC reviews; maintain BIM Execution Plans (BEPs) and LOD standards (200-400) across project phases.
  • Develop and maintain a BIM factory approach enabling repeatable, scalable design deployment across multiple sites.
  • Build and continuously improve a library of standardized Revit families, parametric assemblies, shared parameters, and project templates.
  • Embed modular and prefabricated assembly logic into reusable digital content; document design reuse strategies and family development standards.
  • Manage configuration control for layouts, assemblies, and system interfaces across program phases.
  • Perform clash coordination across mechanical, electrical, structural, and architectural disciplines using Navisworks or equivalent.
  • Author and maintain construction document sets — plans, elevations, sections, and details — for permit, fabrication, and construction use.
  • Ensure spatial compliance with manufacturability, serviceability, constructability, and scalability requirements.
  • Serve as the central coordination point for spatial integration across power, cooling, structural, and cabling systems.
  • Facilitate model coordination reviews resolving clearances, access zones, installation sequencing, and maintenance envelopes.
  • Interface with GCs, subcontractors, and AOR/EOR teams; support RFI responses and design/constructability reviews.
  • Support DFM, DFA, DFS, and Design for Scalability through model-based spatial analysis.
  • Partner with engineering, manufacturing, and operations to embed DFx requirements into digital models and reference assemblies.
  • Identify spatial conflicts or design deviations that impact downstream manufacturing or construction workflows.
  • Manage equipment tagging and COBie data population to support CMMS and facilities management handoff.
  • Incorporate field redlines and change orders into record models to maintain as-built accuracy and support transition to operations-ready BIM.
  • Administer Revit, Navisworks, BIM 360 / Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), and supporting 3D modeling platforms.
  • Drive automation and workflow improvements using Dynamo, Python, or equivalent scripting tools.
  • Develop and maintain digital engineering standards, playbooks, and onboarding materials.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

About the Data Center Infrastructure (DCI) Team:

The DCI team consists of technical subject matter experts who specialize in end-to-end large scale physical infrastructure that powers and enables modern data centers. This includes power distribution systems such as transformers, substations, generators, switchgear, switch panels, busways, ATS units, EDPM, BMS systems, and control panels, as well as cooling solutions ranging from traditional evaporative and indirect cooling systems to emerging liquid cooling technologies including chillers, heat exchangers, CDUs, pumps, and secondary fluid networks. The team also addresses the mechanical structures that house these systems - hot aisle containment, steel enclosures, blanking panels, cable trays, and fiber and networking infrastructure.

The DCI team operates as a cross-industry center of excellence, partnering primarily with various cloud providers across the industry. Team members function as deeply technical subject matter experts who engage directly with customers and supply chain partners to assess requirements, identify challenges, and design infrastructure solutions end-to-end. The ideal contributor brings engineering-level expertise in either power or cooling disciplines, a working knowledge of the full infrastructure dependency chain, and the ability to translate that expertise into clear recommendations and collaborative problem-solving with both technical and business stakeholders.
