** On-site at our Prince George, VA facility. **

This role is to support a new factory in Prince George, VA (onsite) startup manufacturing large form-factor equipment.  The product will be large (shipping container size), heavy (50+ tons), and complex.  This position will be part of the core factory startup and onboarding team responsible for building the operations and manufacturing staff, fitting out the building, and creating the process flow/work instructions/etc. from the ground up. Skills to include: panel and point to point wire assembly, Medium Voltage, Low Voltage, and High Power Electronic assemblies.

Job Summary
The Buyer I is responsible for procuring all components required to support production and prototype builds. This role also involves securing the best possible pricing and lead-time agreements, managing inventory levels, ensuring on-time delivery, and resolving quality issues with suppliers to support operational objectives.


Responsibilities

  • Participate in MPS loading decisions through proper material sizing and planning.

  • Analyze, maintain, and execute Material Requirements Planning (MRP), monitoring material pipelines to ensure supply aligns with demand and addressing shortages or supply issues.

  • Ensure material availability to support production schedules through effective MRP execution, on-time supplier delivery, and coordination of material flow from receiving to production.

  • Minimize Jabil's material liability by understanding ownership responsibilities (supplier/customer), tracking liability exposure, providing supporting data to the BUM, and leveraging supplier agreements.

  • Issue purchase orders in accordance with negotiated pricing, terms, and conditions, and ensure supplier compliance with established agreements.

  • Optimize order management processes and maintain effective supplier communication.

  • Maintain accurate master data and planning parameters to balance inventory investment, procurement costs, and material liability.

  • Monitor and improve supplier performance related to delivery, quality, and service, using corrective actions and escalation resources when necessary.

  • Support Accounts Payable in resolving invoice discrepancies.

  • Contribute to commodity and pricing strategies by partnering with Buyers, Commodity Managers, and SCM, and providing supplier performance feedback.

  • Reduce material freight expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities.

  • Track, evaluate, and report supplier performance metrics.

  • Follow all applicable safety, health, security, and company policies and procedures.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Logistics, or a related field preferred.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Outlook and Excel.

  • Basic Excel skills, including sorting, filtering, data analysis, and report review.

  • Exposure to supply chain, logistics, inventory management, procurement, manufacturing processes preferred.

  • Strong mathematical skills, including calculations involving percentages, ratios, rates, discounts, commissions, proportions, area, circumference, and volume.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling inventory, shipping, receiving, and transactional data.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.

  • Comfortable working in both office and warehouse/manufacturing environments and supporting receiving and shipping operations as needed.

  • Demonstrated ability to follow through on tasks and proactively identify and resolve issues.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across global teams.

  • Ability to communicate professionally with internal stakeholders, including buyers and supply chain teams located at other Jabil sites worldwide.

  • Ability to build working relationships with cross-functional teams in operations, procurement, logistics, and materials management.

The pay range for this role is $58,800 - $94,100. Job-related, non-discriminatory factors used to determine the actual offered rate include qualifications and experience, geographic location, education, external market data, and consideration of internal equity.
