SUMMARY

Through subordinate staff, manages and directs automation engineering activities including the design, development, transfer, validation, and continuous improvement of automated and test equipment.

Responsible for leading automation engineering projects, coordinating with customers and suppliers, and ensuring timely technical support for production equipment performance issues. Drives departmental strategy, team development, and continuous improvement initiatives to support operational excellence and Workcell performance.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Plans and manages staffing requirements based on Workcell needs.
· Leads, develops, and evaluates automation engineering personnel, including performance management and development plans.
· Oversees automation and test equipment projects from concept through implementation and validation.
· Coordinates with customers and suppliers to define optimal automation solutions.
· Develops and reviews technical proposals and justifications prior to customer presentation.
· Manages the development, transfer, improvement, and validation of automated/test equipment.
· Provides technical leadership, guidance, and training to automation and test engineering teams.
· Establishes and manages departmental budgets, including forecasting and variance analysis.
· Maintains organizational structure and workforce planning for the automation engineering team.
· Participates in plant-level strategic planning and objective setting with senior leadership.
· Drives continuous improvement initiatives aligned with Workcell KPIs and operational metrics.
· Supports feasibility studies and evaluation of automation and test equipment projects.
· Ensures rapid response and resolution to production equipment issues, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.

· Develops team competencies in automation, vision systems, laser processes, and programming.
· Ensures compliance with all safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
· Supports corporate initiatives related to safety, ethics, sustainability, and company values.
· May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required (Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical, or related).
· Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience in automation, test engineering, or manufacturing engineering.
·   Proven experience in a leadership role managing Automation teams .·  Experience working with complex automated manufacturing equipment.

.· Proven experience on CAPEX management, ROI and technical risk assessment.
· Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
· Or a combination of education, experience and/or training.
