JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for a Mechanical Quality Engineer who will ensure our products meet the highest quality standards while taking ownership of quality assurance processes and driving results. This role requires working closely with engineering drawings, defining measurement methods, and preparing PPAP documentation for customer submissions. The ideal candidate is strong, independent, and experienced in stamping, machining, fabrication, progressive die, and sheet metal industries, with the ability to work confidently and effectively with minimal supervision while ensuring compliance with all quality standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collaborate with suppliers to implement technology and quality requirements on the shop floor, ensuring products meet customer specifications.
• Monitor supplier progress against deliverable milestones and apply quality tools and methods to ensure accuracy and compliance in production.
• Provide on-site training to suppliers on customer specifications, quality standards, in-process controls, and any special project requirements.
• Lead rapid response and root cause analysis for customer complaints or feedback, coordinate corrective actions, and ensure timely follow-up.
• Develop and drive supplier continuous improvement plans to enhance customer satisfaction, improve first-pass yield, reduce PPM, and achieve quality targets.
• Collect, organize, and track information related to supplier quality and process improvement, ensuring project and program quality objectives are met.
• Support suppliers in establishing effective quality management systems through process audits, capability studies, quality plans, and control plans.
• Strengthen supplier engagement in the First Article Inspection (FAI) process to ensure products meet drawing and specification requirements.
• Oversee supplier production activities to ensure commitments related to product quality are fulfilled.
• Prepare PPAP documentation for customer submissions.
• May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.  

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

• Strong mechanical background desired; knowledge of plastic injection molding & tooling, metal stampings & tooling, metal fabrication and machining etc.
• Able to read and interpret mechanical drawings (6 sigma training desired)
• Quality Engineering experience in FMEA, SPC, MAS, CAPA, LEAN, QC7 Tool, PPAP, ISO/ IATF
• Experience with quality systems and controls.
• Blueprint, drawing, and quality manufacturing tool experience and measure methods.
• Experience and Knowledge with preparing PPAP Documentation for Customer Submissions (Production Part Approval Process)
• Understanding of the quality system and commercial regulatory requirements and how they relate to the business.
• Proficiency in use of personal computers, Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio) and e-mail skills required.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree required, Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred.
• 3-5 years of  experience in Quality or Manufacturing Engineering
• Or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.
