Job Requisition: Assistant General Counsel, Trade Compliance – Mexico

We are seeking an experienced attorney, to enhance the compliance program for Jabil’s operations across Mexico, Brazil, and the Caribbean. This role provides legal counsel and governance oversight in Mexican trade and customs compliance, regulatory interpretation, audit response, and government interactions, while supporting day-to-day import, export, and IMMEX-related matters.

In addition, this role will serve as a key legal interface between Business and Operations teams, focusing on advisory support, policy governance, regulatory compliance, team leadership, and compliance assurance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the regional trade compliance legal team supporting manufacturing sites across Mexico, Brazil, and the Caribbean.

• Provide legal counsel on Mexican customs and foreign trade laws, including IMMEX, PROSEC, SAT requirements, and related special customs regimes.

• Advise on tariff classification, customs valuation, country of origin determinations (including USMCA), Annex 24/31 compliance, and cross-border supply chain transactions.

• Oversee implementation of trade compliance policies, internal controls, and reporting standards across multiple sites to ensure consistent regulatory compliance.

• Conduct and oversee trade compliance risk assessments across sites and third-party relationships; identify gaps and lead mitigation and corrective action efforts.

• Support government interactions, including SAT audits, customs verification visits, certification reviews, and related inquiries.

• Support training initiatives and provide ongoing guidance to strengthen trade compliance awareness across business and operational teams.

• Monitor regulatory developments and coordinate with U.S. and global trade compliance teams to ensure alignment on cross-border requirements.

Education and Experience

• Law degree from an accredited institution.

• 7+ years of experience in Mexican trade and customs law.

• Experience engaging with Servicio de Administración Tributaria (SAT).

• Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret complex regulatory frameworks and apply them in operational environments.

• Ability to communicate complex regulatory requirements clearly to non-legal stakeholders.

Additional Requirements

• Fluent in Spanish and English (Portuguese a plus).

Licensed attorney in good standing in Mexico.
